Trauma, Conflict, and a God Who Heals

Jun 14, 2026    Scott Dent

This sermon walks through the tragic story of Absalom to show how unhealed trauma and unresolved conflict can distort our responses, damage relationships, and even destroy what we love most. Drawing from 2 Samuel, Matthew 18, Colossians 3, Ephesians 4, and Romans 12, Pastor Scott contrasts Absalom’s “trauma response” with the way of Christ—humility, love, forgiveness, and Spirit-led reconciliation. You’ll be challenged to examine your own patterns of anger, church hurt, and relational tension, and invited to bring them to God for true healing. Rather than using Scripture as a weapon in conflict, this message calls the church to a better way: bearing with one another, refusing gossip, releasing bitterness, and trusting God to handle justice while we choose love.
