Be Careful What You Ask For

This message traces the turning point in Israel’s history when God’s people rejected Him as their King and demanded a human king “like all the other nations.” Using a sweeping biblical timeline, we see how long God faithfully led His people—and how quickly things unraveled once they insisted on their own way.

We’ll explore 1 Samuel 8 and wrestle with a sobering truth: God sometimes lets us have what we keep demanding, even when it’s outside His will, and then allows us to live with the consequences. This sermon invites you to examine where you may be replacing trust in God with trust in human solutions, programs, or leadership, and challenges us as a church to seek God’s direction over imitation and comparison.

Learn what it means, personally and as a congregation, to stop asking God to bless our plans and instead follow His—before we end up with the very “king” we asked for and a life we never truly wanted.
